Fall has finally come here in Maine. You can here the corn choppers chopping here on the farm. The first field that was cut was right behind my house 60 + acres.

The corn is chopped and blown into a big orange dump wagon then dumped into a dump truck we run two choppers.

My Dad is running this chopper.
We have two dump trucks running my nephew Zak drives this one.
Field almost done.

  1. We are far enough south in Canada that we can grow corn here too, silage and eating corn. One of the reasons I like fall is Peaches and Cream corn on the cob.

  2. hi becky, just found your blog. my grandfather used to own a large dairy farm in vermont. but i have a question. why are the babies tied up? grampie never tied his. i like how you show what the machinery is doing. wish i could grow good quality timothy but it is difficult here and the equipment is so expensive.

  3. Glad we snagged the last of the corn stalks before the "boys" got to them. How lucky are we!

  4. Kritter Keeper, Some people use wire to go around the huts but I find that being tied up works the best you can get to the calf to feed her a bottle better also easier to clean them. Did your Grampie have huts? Did your Grampie make maple syrup living in Vermont? We do syrup here.
